ADVENTURES
Adventures are personalized sagas that members can do without having to worry about it involving the entirety of the site. Adventures are an excellent way to make plots, incite character development and help out your fellow members! An adventure can be virtually anything that you want from retrieval of items to destroying a monster to discovering and exploring a new location. It all depends on what you want to accomplish.
There are certain rules with adventures though. The first rule is that anyone can be a Game Master for adventures; the Game Master is responsible for controlling the NPCs and setting up the adventure for the players. The gamemaster can be the person who created the adventure or someone completely different; it does not matter. It should be noted that the gamemaster will receive rewards for their efforts -- enough to where it is very much worth it to try your hand at being a Game Master. However, as with everything, fairness and communication with the adventure’s participants are your biggest concerns when GMing. Also, remember that you’re doing this to have fun, so please make the experience as enjoyable for yourself and the people you are GMing for as much as you can!
When making an adventure, there are four difficulties: Normal, Hard, Devastating, Nightmare. Normal adventures are your run-of-the-mill adventures; while they will have dangers present and combat will be necessary, there isn’t a chance of death or serious injury while taking them. Hard adventures step it up a bit; these adventures present tougher challenges and obstacles that will take teamwork and careful thinking to overcome. The chance of greater injury increases; however, there still isn’t a chance of dying. It’s imperative that an adventure’s tasks and challenges accurately reflects its difficulty. It’s okay if an adventure has a very high rate of success if it is a Normal-level adventure; however, as the difficulty climbs, the chances of failure, serious injury and death climb. Starting at Devastating, adventures are more likely to be failed than completed, and Nightmare adventures are literally like they’re named: nightmares. The chances of completing one successful are extremely slim, and it’s virtually impossible to come out of one completely uninjured.
If you want to make an adventure, follow these steps:
- Make a topic in the Adventures Board with the topic’s title being the name of your adventure. Also, in brackets, put the adventure’s difficulty. An example would be ADVENTURE NAME [DIFFICULTY].
- Fill out the adventure template provided and post it up with your adventure topic.ADVENTURE TEMPLATE
NAME: The name of the adventure.
DIFFICULTY: Normal, Hard, Devastating or Nightmare. Please, PLEASE make sure that the difficulty accurately reflects what the adventure entails. If it turns out the difficulty of an adventure doesn’t match the adventure’s challenge, your post-adventure rewards will be cut down to the appropriate level.
NUMBER OF PEOPLE ALLOWED: How many people are allowed to participate in the adventure. If you are participating in the adventure, count yourself when determining how many people can join.
GAME MASTER: Your adventure’s Game Master.
DESCRIPTION: Give a description of your adventure here. It doesn’t need to be extremely lengthy, but it does need to give a good enough overview of what the adventure’s about. The more descriptive you are, the more interesting your adventure becomes and the more likely people will try and join it.
PARTICIPANTS: Whoever is participating in your adventure. As more people get added to the adventure, update the list here. - Once all of the adventure’s participants are ready, go ahead and go through with the adventure.
- Once the adventure’s completed, put the adventure up in the Z-Point Claim, and be sure to link the adventure’s information thread in your post as well.
- Wait until the adventure fills up with its needed participants. If you need a Game Master, you can ask around for one or post in the Game Master Request thread for one.
WARNING: Make sure that the adventure's difficulty accurately reflects what people will be going through in the adventure. If you give an adventure a high enough difficulty, and staff believes that the adventure wasn't hard enough to warrant that particular difficulty and its rewards, the adventure's difficulty will be bumped down, and its rewards will be lowered to its appropriate level. Remember: Devastating and Nightmare adventures have high rewards for a reason. They are always Death-Enabled, and they are legitimately HARD to complete. You will have to do more than just spam techniques and flex your level in order to beat them.
NORMAL | 3000 XP |
HARD | 6000 XP |
DEVASTATING | 10000 XP |
